I note Wiim pro and pro plus are now capable of room correction.

I'm giving It a go at the mo

The first hurdle was not being able to see the room correction Icon on the app on my Android phone it seems you require a a iOS device to configure. Fired up the iPad and opened the Wiim and the icon was visible. Very straightforward to set up using the microphone on your iOS device.  I'm thinking of it as something to play around with rather than a full on calibration set ups that use calibrated microphones set up in multiple positions.

Once turned on via a iOS device the room correction does seem to stay on if you then switch to using a android device for playback control. However I was only briefly able to listen just two tracks before having to run some unexpected errands.

I have just bought a WiimAmp for use in a drawing room and, despite the room correction, am not being knocked sideways as I expected to be based on the in awe reviews for the streamer. My Naim QB Muso 2nd gen is way superior (to my ears). More expensive but then it has the speakers built in.
My "bits and bobs" per my profile.

Yep you gotta take the reviews with a pinch of salt seems to me a lot of online review content is driven via some form of kickbacks.

I purchased a fozi V3 to try for summer use rather than running hot valves in the room.  While sonics are ok and it's pleasant enough to listen to it just doesn't for me provide any emotional engagement to what you're listening to and there is zero chance of any physical effects like goosebumps, chills etc.

Quiet happy with the Wiim pro plus as a streamer in my second system.

I had one of these on loan, gave it back after 3 hrs. Sounded very flat, with no sparkle or and bass come to that.
I didn't know that

Exactly my thoughts - no sparkle and flat. Bass is okay in as much as I can hear it.

My Pro arrived a few hours ago, being primarily bought to play the BBC sounds app. I am very, very happy with it.

I needed it as we changed from Virgin and I could no longer access Beeb sounds via the telly box thing. Via this it could sound a bit thin at low levels but the Wiim has an excellent equaliser facility that helps tremendously.

And you have to consider that people who have invested thousand upon thousands in HiFi will have a confirmation bias towards their expensive gear. I know I did! Personally all I can hear is different.

Just been told by WiiM support that the room correction app for Android arrives this week, makes the WiiM Pro even more versatile.

I have been using Wiim products for over a year now. Overall I am very happy with the convenience and value for money of their proucts. They can benefit from system matching to try and get the best out of them. I tend to stream from Amazon Unlimited to get the UHD files. Better quality music files are noticably an improvement. I also stream BBC rather than use a tuner.

Here are my notes on teh 3 models I have:

Wiim mini - with decent SMPS feeding via optical into Arcam SA20. The Arcam DAC is significantly better than the one in the WIIM mini. The sound is suprisingly good with teh Wiim Mini doing teh streaming and the Arcam doing the DAC and amplification.

Wiim Pro - using chinese linear PSU feeding via Coax into Meridian DSP5000. Sounds wonderful, however the Meridians have an 18 bit DAC and with not work at Wiims highest bit rate (set to 48khz), Again not using the Wiim DAC but needed the pro to get coax out.

Wiim Pro Plus - using ifi Ipower SMPS feeding into Arcam AVR250 in stereo direct biamp mode driving Castle Harlech. I did a back to back comparison woth Pro and Pro Plus in the same system. Pro Plus DAC is worth the extra (I had used a seperate DAC with Pro to improve the sound prior to getting the Pro Plus)

As an Android user I am loooking forward to trying room correction. However I have used diffraction and aborbstion panels to tweak the sound in my main listening room, along with the parametric EQ in the Wiim. Also due age hearing loss around 4k means I tweak the sound to mitigate this issue as well.
Too much HiFi ...I will have a clear out...one day.

ASR have measured both Pro and Pro  Plus as streamers ( digital out) both perfect, but the analogue out on the Pro is not great, this was significantly improved in the ‘Plus’ which is audibly transparent.

I've had a WiiM Pro for a few weeks, and I'm very pleased with it as a digital streamer into my Topping D90 DAC.

A couple of days ago I thought I'd have a play with its room correction facility.
Very easy to use after a very brief time playing around with it....

😲

..... blimey.

Obviously it must be very system and room dependent.
The correction curve is mostly +/- 3db for me, which isn't huge.

But Wow, the improvement is not at all subtle. A significant improvement in clarity, resolution, in room vividness, and naturalness for me.

The room correction is staying switched in, for sure.

Had my Ultra for a day now, enjoying it much into myNaim 272 pee/streamer, I’d has it has the edge over the internal Naim streamer of the 272 using the 272 internal dac. Not tried using the Wiim internal dac yet or as a preamp.
For the money it’s a steal.
Not tried any other input except the digital coax out into the Naim 272 internal dac.

I was looking at Arylic streamers from AliExpress but when the Amazon sale came up my eye was turned to the Wiim Pro. I ended up finding it cheaper with the £10 off offer from Peter Tyson so ordered it. My plan is to move my Bluesound Node 2i into my upstairs system feeding out analogue and putting the Wiim into my main system, feeding into my M2Tech Young DAC - I'm interested to test it's functionality.

A job for the weekend if it arrives in time.
Whatever the question is, the answer is sausages.
