Fascinating.

I have products from:
  • Topping
  • SMSL
  • Eversolo
  • Gustard
  • Auralic
  • ToneWinner
I have to say that, without exception, they are fantastic. Not just for their price, but in absolute terms. And in my case, totally reliable so far (touch wood).

It makes me wonder how 'established' audio companies will be able to compete. Probably only by charging a price premium due to brand image. But I doubt this is sustainable longterm.

That's what i was talking about on a different thread that China seems to be giving us value for money products without the silly prices and just as good as some of the expensive stuff .

They are being competitive which is what the market needs to bring the prices down so everyone can afford instead just looking at those people who in a position to spend high prices .

We are of the dinosaur age when it comes to present hifi, young entrepreneurs seeking new ways to make hifi cheaper is a good thing. I have said it before and not to sound like a broken record, we don't need to pay exorbitant prices to get really good musical performance from hifi these days.

Streamers and DACs in the 1k range will outperform most streamers and DACs from just 7years ago at a fraction of the cost. We've seen a lot of hifi companies folding up due to fierce competition. Alot are merging together inorder to stay relevant.

It would be interesting to see how expensive hifi products cope in the few years to come. Would they make their products more expensive for a niche market or would they be forced to reduce prices.

When it comes to stuff like hifi speakers, price still equals performance to some extent, but this area is also catching up on ways to reduce expense for greater performance.

We are a " stuck in our ways" kind of hifi enthusiast that those who got the extra cash will still splash out on bling and expensive hifi. Many of us within this group still keep things going but for how long.
We don't see things the way they are, we mostly see things the way we are.
